AlertMe – Energy Bill Reduction – Reader Opportunity

Here’s something that may interest you – would you like to reduce your home energy bills?

Most people would – and the team over at http://www.alertme.com/ are about to launch their new products and service that allows you to monitor your energy use and even has an iPhone app so you can track usage while you’re out!

By being aware of what appliances use you are better able to manage them, and so hopefully reduce your bills.

To coincide with this they are forming a user panel of 100 families around the country who will be supplied with the kit free and who agree to participate in several challenges throughout a year, and to blog about their experiences.

Details are at http://www.alertme.com/the-panel and a summary is below:

AlertMe is holding a nationwide experiment in order to create a picture of today’s Britain. We aim to capture people’s concerns and lifestyles and help them to save money by using AlertMe technology to monitor and control their energy usage.

AlertMe is searching for just 100 households from across the country to participate in our experiment so you will need to sign up quickly if you would like to participate.

If you are selected to be part of our panel, we will issue you with an AlertMe kit (a year’s free subscription to AlertMe and a SmartPlug), which will allow you to monitor the energy usage of your individual appliances via the internet or by using your Smart Phone.

We will ask all members of the AlertMe panel to take part in three to four challenges during the year and we would love it if you would blog about your findings. We will also send you a quick survey after each challenge so that we can observe some of the common themes.

Challenges will last about a week and be fun and easy to carry out around your daily lives. For example, our first challenge will ask you to live on an energy budget – you’ll be amazed how much you can save!

Out of our panel we would also like some volunteers to act as our ‘Case Studies’ for the media. For this, you will have to be willing to be featured in your local press, agree to be photographed and we will also ask you to blog both during and after your challenges.
